The Quality of Life Sector (Public Recreation, Parks, Arts and Culture) is key to building a thriving Community in the 21st Century!
The Quality of Life sector touches every citizen from cradle to grave in a meaningful and tangible way. When the Quality of Life sector is fulfilling it’s mission there is great economic, social and moral impact in the Community. There is a significant strengthening of the intangible infrastructure: Community cohesion, connectiveness, resilience and pride. In short, the sector is a major factor in building the Community all would want to live in.
It is Director level and senior level leadership capacity that is the key factor to building Departmental/Agency/Organizational excellence needed to fulfill the vital mission of the sector.
Across North America, Director and Senior level leaders are retiring at an overwhelming rate, taking with them operational insight, institutional knowledge, sector expertise and most importantly, a high level of leadership competence. This leaves a significant void in this vital sector.
Kansas Recreation and Parks Association has partnered with renowned Public Sector Advocate and Leadership Development Innovator, Ian Hill to accelerate the development of “Day 1” ready leaders to assume Director level leadership positions within the sector. Together, they will proactively and holistically increase the leadership capacity within the sector by launching a first of its kind program: The Leadership Intensive!
The Leadership Intensive
The Leadership Intensive is an individualized, competency based, leadership development program. It is designed specifically for those who aspire to be outstanding Director level leaders. It’s mission is to accelerate the development of Public Sector professionals, equipping them to be “day 1″ ready to assume Director and Senior leadership positions!
The program meets participants where they are at and utilizes an innovative and proprietary behavioral change model that is based on “21 days to establish a habit”, and a blended learning approach.
The program will instill the 4 competencies of today’s effective Director level leader, which are the approaches we believe the times require. They were developed through Ian Hill’s work with over 600 Departments/Agencies across the United States, Canada and Australia, 168 Community based projects and his own 35 years of executive level leadership experience. The four competencies have been tried, proven and successful.
